Read: Psalm 60: 1-5; 2 Samuel 8: 13-14; 1 Kings 11: 15
But for those who fear you you have raised a banner to be unfurled against the bow. Save us and help us with your right hand, that those you love may be delivered.
Psalm 60: 4-5
Yesterday, I was not able to enter Internet, because a mechanic and I went to Tanga for looking my part of my engine. Then we took bus to go city Tanga, and we took Taxi to one garage, after we went to look for the part of car. When we came back, it was late and I was so tired.
Today my Internet expired, I got recharge by sending more money. Now I am grateful to meet you again!
We look at Psalm 60: 1-5 principles, we need to look into history of Edom. In 2 Samuel 8: 13-14 said, "And David became famous after he returned from striking don eighteen thousand Edomites in the valley of Salt. He put garrisons throughout Edom, and all the Edomites became subject to David. The Lord gave David victory wherever he went." When we read 1 Kings 11: 15 said, "Earlier when David was fighting with Edom, Joab the commander of the army, who had gone up to bury the dead, had struck down all the men in Edom."
David and his followers struck Edom, then the Edomites became subject to David who wrote Psalm 60 for the director of music: To the tune of "The lily of the Covenant." for his teaching. When he fought Aram Naharaim and Aram Zobah and when Joab returned and struck down twelve thousand Edomites in Valley of Salt. God has been with David always, because David set his heart on God, no turn right or left, but he followed God the whole-hearted.
Those principles in Psalm 60: 1-6 as below:
(1) Now restore David and his army now! (V1)
"You have rejected us, O God, and burst forth upon us; you have been angry - now restore us!" David wrote the beginning, he was hopeless, but he hopes that God restores them now. He did not want to wait another time, but now. And his mind doubted at God had rejected them, because God, you have been angry, but 'now restore us!' I think that they needed God who will enable refresh and renews them with His might hands.
(2) God have shaken earth. (V 2-3)
"You have shaken the land and torn it open; mend its fractures, for it is quaking. You have shown our people desperate times; you have given us wine that makes us stagger." God is mighty, He acts with power and he can shock earth, quake the things. And you can make people who tremble with no hope.
(3) Raised a banner to give a fear God one. (V 4)
"But for those who fear you, you have raised a banner to be unfurled against the bow." When God has raised a banner to those who fear Him, there are victory over enemies. God is able to spread truth to the people who follow Him alone. We are ones who stand with Him, so that He enables us to overcome all barriers. The final victory belongs to us.
(4) God's deliverance with his right hand. (V 5)
"Save us and help us with your right hand, that those you love may be delivered." The right hand is usually our power, righteous, more strength hand. He loves us and you can deliver us from all situations. In Isaiah 41: 10 said, "So do not fear, for I am with you; for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
God remembers you and your trouble, He will uphold you with his righteous right hand, He is with you, he will strengthen you and help you. Who do you need? The answer is Jesus. Amen!
Tomorrow we will continue to finish Psalm 60: 6-12. See you and I will wait to you here.
Do not fear, for God is with you; do not dismayed, for He is your God. He will strengthen you and help you; He will uphold you with his righteous right hand.
