Trust & Rest (F)

Read: Habakkuk 2: 3, 3: 17-19, Psalms 62: 5; Job 1: 21, 19: 13-27, 42: 5; Numbers 27: 18; Deuteronomy 12: 9

For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speak of end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.
Habakkuk 2: 3

Today I shall give you two example in Habakkuk and Job about Trust and rest, after I finish with conclusions.

(6)  Rest for hope.

In Psalms 62: 5 said, "Find rest. O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him." We find rest in our hope. And 46: 10 said, "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."  We need to know God who is in control for everywhere and everything.

Habakkuk 2:3 said, "For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speak of the end and will not prove false. Through it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay." Patience means waiting God's time without doubting God's love. Habakkuk learnt to rest God's appointments and await his working in a spirit of worship.

Then Habakkuk knew how to trust the Lord with joy and stand on God's promises, not situations. So he could be confident to say it where was written in 3: 17-19, "Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and not cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God, my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go one the heights."

Then trust, we can see who gained by continuing to trust God, Job is often sited as an old Testament picture of Jesus Christ who lived a perfectly innocent life but endured great pain and death. The terrible event of Christ death was also transformed into a great victory.

In Job 1: 21 said, and (Job) said; "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart will return there. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; my the name of the Lord be praised." And 19: 13-27, verse 25 said, "I know that my Redeemer (defender) lives,  and that in the end, he will stand upon the earth. (upon my grave) After Job passed all trouble and suffering and 42: 5 said, "My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you." He has seen God with his own eyes. And God restored everything to Job who was faithful until the end.

Faith is trust in the person of Jesus, the truth of his teaching and the redemptive work which he accomplished at Calvary. Then faith may also refer to body of trust which constitutes the whole of the Christian message. (Judas)

Numbers 27:18, So the Lord said to Moses, "Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit and lay your hand on him." Joshua's is trust in God as a man in whom is the spirit.

Conclusions

Trust and rest can not depart one another, the need each others. When we trust in God, we are rest in our soul in God. All burdens have gone, all storms seem stopping, the are waving and unsettle but your heart is secure in act of God. Rest brings forwards peace, joy and power of God. Because we trust God who is the Rock eternal (Isaiah 26: 3-4), He has never forsake us (Psalms 9: 10) make or direct our path straight (Proverbs 3: 5-6), so that we rejoice and sing the thankful songs. (Psalms 28: 7). Because the Lord is our God with unfailing love in His Holy Name (Psalms 33:  21), God has promised those who trust in Him and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. (Psalms 37: 3) (Rest) Righteousness and justice will shin up when we trust in God and fear not, while the person who trusts God will be like a tree that has its root sunk deep inside a stream. (Jeremiah 17: 8)

Rest, you trust in God who gives you rest, and with you always. (Exodus 33: 14) Your soul will relief and burdens off. (Matthew 11: 28-29) Then your trust in God who brings rest secure. (Psalms 16: 9) and relief  from suffering and comforting in rest (Isaiah 14: 3) and rest his work for your soul. God promised rest to the Israelites in the land of Canaan. (Deuteronomy 12: 9, since you have no yet reached the resting place and the inheritance the Lord your God is giving you.)

These means rest of souls as Christ offers to us. Then trust is action of faith in obedience and rest is result of trust. We need two sides as one coin. Then our lives will be enjoyed green land with all the season fruit in roots of the Lord as our promised land and resting place in our souls.

Trust and Rest are two sides in one coin which can serve God better way!

Trust & Rest (E)

Read: Isaiah 14: 3, 17: 8; Hebrews 4: 10-11

You relief from suffering and turmoil and cruel bondage.
Isaiah 14: 3

Today we need to pray for earthquake in China and Japan. May God heal their suffering, so they can know God who has done, in order to believe in Him. Today I shall give you two principles in Rest, then next time, we shall finish this topic.

(4)  Relief from suffering. (Comfort in Rest)

In Isaiah 14: 3 said, "you relief from suffering and turmoil and cruel bondage."  And Psalms 17: 8 said, "Keep me as the apple of your hide me in the shadow of your wing." God will give His comfort for rest, He helps us to relieve from suffering and turmoil, and cruel bondage, whatever we face trouble or turmoil or bondage, He will make a way out where seem no way, and He will make a way for us, so God hides us in the shadow of His wing.

(5)  Rest his work. (Hebrews 4: 10-11)

"For anyone who enter God's rest also rests for his own work, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience."

God has given us his example of creation, in Genesis 2: 2 said, "By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so one the seventh day he rested  from all his work." so that we obey God for est for our own work, so that we can recharge to do much greater than later.

Next time, we will connect Trust and Rest in Habakkuk and Job.

God will relieve your bondage, You rest, let He does for you.

Trust & Rest (D)

Read: Exodus 33: 14; Matthew 11: 28-29; Psalms 55: 22, 16: 9; Proverbs 3: 24; Psalms 3: 5, 127: 2, 139: 18

Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your soul.
Matthew 11: 28-29

Today we shall talk about the principle of Rest, you will enjoy Word of God who teaches you to rest and you take down your burden on Him, then we shall sleep well for His promises.

(1)  God presence will go with you. (Exodus 33: 14)

The Lord replied (Moses) "My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." God's presence will go with us, and He will give us rest. In His presence, there are rest we can find.

(2)  Take burdens off  (Soul in rest)

In Matthew 11: 28- 29 said, "Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your soul." Jesus invites us who are weary and burdened, He will give us rest. When we learn from Jesus who withdrew after His ministry. Then he prayed, it is recharge again, so we will find rest for our souls, if we learn from Jesus, our Lord!

In Psalms 55: 22 said, "Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall." Cast our cares on the Lord, Jesus who will help us, because he will never let the righteous believers fall as He has promised.

(3)  Rest Secure and sleeping well.

In Proverbs 3: 24 said, "when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet." Then Psalms 16: 9 said, "Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices." and 3: 5 said, "I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me." Moreover, in Psalms 127: 2 said, "for he grant sleep to me those he loves." and 139: 18 said, "My body also will rest secure, when I awake, I am still with you. (Sleep or rest well)" Then 4: 8 said, "I will lie down and sleep in peace for you alone, o Lord, make me dwell in safely." Thank to the Lord, Jesus who gives us soul and body rest, we shall sleep well and rest secure when you are with us. Because your peace is with us with safety and sweet rest. Therefore, Praise to the Lord for He has done for our body, soul and spirit rest!

Good rest is with God!

Trust & Rest (C)

Read: Psalms 32: 10, 52:8, 33: 21, 37: 3; Proverbs 29: 25; Isaiah 26: 3; Psalms 37: 5-6, 56: 11; Jeremiah 17: 7-8

When I am afraid I will trust in you. In God whose word I praise in God I trust; I will not be afraid.
Psalms 56: 3-4

Today we shall continue to talk about principles of  Trust as below:

(7)  Trust with His unfailing love.

In Psalms 32: 10 said, "... but the Lord's unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him." and 52: 8 said, "...  I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever." We trust God who is love, His love can not fail. And He loves us with unfailing with unconditional love.

Our trust must be that God will take up what is incomplete and wrap around it his completeness, "He can not fail."

(8) In His Holy Name. (Psalms 33: 21)

"In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his Holy Name." We trust in His Holy Name, because he is trustworthy of God and so our hearts rejoice who he is, His Name is Holy with power.

(9)  Dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture (safe
        place as refuge).

In Psalms 37: 3 said, "Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture." and Proverbs 29: 25 said, "but whoever trusts in the lord is kept safe." Then Isaiah 26: 3 said, "You will keep him in perfect peace." and Nahum 1: 7 said, "The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him...".

Above scripture Verses talk us that we trust God and do good, God will give us safe place to live in and we shall have a perfect peace, then we face in times of trouble, He is our refuge and he cares for us who trust in Him. We only trust in Jesus who will do rest for us.

(10)  Make your righteousness and justice shine up.

In Psalms 37: 5-6 said, "commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, and justice of your cause like the noonday sun." We commit our way to God and trust in Him who will make our righteousness shine like day light and Justice of our cause like the noon sun. So God shines our way if we trust in Him, and he will make our way in the right path. Praise the Lord for His Word!

(11)  Fear Not

In Psalm 56: 3-4 said, "When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God whose word I praise in God I trust; I will not be afraid." and verse 11 said, "in God I trust I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" Fear Not, because we trust in Him who is with us. Then we will not be afraid, because we trust him. Trust is key word and stand for who who we believe in. Then Trust leads us to praise in God who has done in our lives with no fear. It is trust which brings this effect - No man can not do bad for us, because we trust in Jesus who is our Lord and God.

(12)  A tree planted by the water. (Jeremiah 17:3-8)

"But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, is whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear who heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fail to bear fruit."

We trust Jesus who gives us confidence in Him, so we are like a tree planted by the water, water is Holy Spirit and word of God. So that our roots will be growing deeply, when the dry season comes, we still are green and bear fruit (fruit of Spirit). Trust God who brings us Holy Spirit  living with Him.

Trust in Jesus, we can not fail!

Trust & Rest (B)

Read: Isaiah 26: 3-4; Psalms 9: 10; Proverbs 3: 5-6; Psalms 28: 7, 40: 3, 16: 4, 31: 6, 31: 14

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3: 5-6

I shall use two days to look over principles of 'Trust', and then two days in 'Rest', then I shall give you two example and conclusions.

Trust the Lord as:

(1)  The Rock eternal (security)  (Isaiah 26: 3-4)

"You will keep in perfect peace (rest) him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Trust is the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord is Rock eternal."  When we trust in God who is Rock eternal, and He made us security and having perfect peace for confirm his security.

(2)  You seek God (He has never forsaken) (Psalms
        9:10)

"Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you." God has promised you, He never leave you nor forsake you. (Hebrews 13: 5).  We shall trust His name, because He have never forsaken those who seek you. When we seek Him, and He will keep his promises as He has spoken. Praise the Lord!

(3)  Make your paths straight. (Direct your paths)

In Provers 3: 5-6 said, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." God directs our paths, when we trust in Him, not leaning one our own minds and understanding. All our ways, we acknowledge Him, we admits Him to help us, and He will make our paths straight, it means He will direct our paths. We just need to trust Him who does rest of things. Praise the Lord!

(4)  With joy and thankful song.
In Psalms 28: 7 said, "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song." and 40: 3 said, "He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their Trust in the Lord."

We count our blessings, we can joy for God who helps us when we trust in Him. Because God has led us to victory, so we thank to him in song, sing a new song, a hymn of praise. Because He has done for us. others will see and fear and put their trust in God too.

(5)  No trust God (follow other gods), increasing
        sorrows.

In Psalms 16: 4 said, 'The sorrow of those will increase who run after other gods, I will not pour out their libations of blood or take up their name on my lips." and 31: 6 said, "I hate those who cling to worthless idols; I trust in the Lord."  The sorrow of those will increase who run after other gods, If we trust God no more or follow worthless idols, we shall increase our sorrow for this world. What is called idols? Anything is taken away God's position or you pursue things or person. We need to be careful, we seek first the Kingdom of God, and his righteous, everything will add to us. (Matthew 6: 33)

(6)  You are my God. (Psalms 31: 14)

But I trust in you, O Lord; I said, "You are my God." Because Jesus is God, our Lord, so we trust in Him as Lordship. And many people trust God, but it is wrong god or they are wrong gods. Then we need to know who God is and who we are in Jesus Christ. Thank to the Lord, we have known!

Trust God is more security in this world!

Trust & Rest (A)

Read: Isaiah 30: 5; Genesis 2: 2; Exodus 16: 23;
Leviticus 25: 4; Deuteronomy 12: 9; Matthew 11: 28; Hebrews 4: 10-11

This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel says; repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength.
Isaiah 30: 15

Definition:

Rest (Hebrews nuah, menuhah) means peace, quiet and (Greek anapusis, katapausis).

Trust is action of faith, trust requires to believe in God with their relationship. To trust God in personal faith and rest in His Spirit.

Introduction:

In Isaiah 30: 15 says, This in what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel says; repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness. and trust is your strength. Trust and rest relay each others in our Christian living. If the person rests and brings out peace and quiet; then the quiet hour is the power in God, you have never known, seen and heard before. God will be done in you.

We shall talk about Trust the Lord as the Rock eternal, seek God, make our path straight, no trust God, our sorrows increase, joy has out of our lives, oppositely, Trust in God with joy, thankful song, with unfailing love we trust. We trust in Holy Name, so that we do dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture ... etc.

Rest is our final relationship, God is with us, rest bring us to know He is God our body will rest secure, fear not, but peace and quiet in our heart.

God is resting from his works (Genesis 2: 2), rest in the temple, seventh day was to be one day of rest. (Exodus 16:23; 31:15), and the land was to have its rest every seventh year (Leviticus 25:4). God promised rest to the Israelites in the land of Canaan (Deuteronomy 12: 9). Then Christ offers rest of Soul (Matthew 11: 28, Hebrews 4: 10-12). And I am going to link trust and rest in Conclusions.

Trust and Rest is a great topic, tomorrow we will start to study "Trust" in different consideration. Later we shall talk about "Rest" and give you an example.

We trust in God's deeds or words, so we can rest.

Anointing in the Heart of Worship (D)

Read: 2 Kings 2:9, 10, 12-15

"Let me inherit a double portion of your (Elijah) spirit," Elisha replied.
2 Kings 2: 9

Today we shall finish this topic with last principle as below:

(7)  Double portion of Holy Spirit in your life.

2 Kings 2: 9 said, when they (Elijah and Elisha) had cross Elijah said to Elisha, "Tell me what can I do for you before I am taken from you? "Let me inherit a double portion of your (Elijah) spirit, Elisha replied.

Elisha asked Elijah, he can inherit a double portion of Elijah's spirit. Then verse 10 said, "You have asked a difficult thing," Elijah said, "Yes if you see me when I am taken from you, it will be yours - otherwise not." Elijah gave Elisha one option to gain the double portion of Holy Spirit.

Then verse 12, Elisha saw this and cried out, "My father! My father! The chariots and horsemen of Israel!" and Elisha saw him (Elijah) no more. Then he (Elisha) took hold of his own clothes and tore them apart. Elisha saw Elijah had took away to heaven, so he gained the double portion of Elijah spirit.

And verses 13-14 said, "Elisha took the cloak of Elijah he was struck the water with it, it divided to the right and to the left, and he crossed over. He used Elijah cloak, he was struck the water with it, then he crossed over the dry land. After verse 15 said, "The company of the prophets from Jericho, who were watching said, "The Spirit of Elijah is rest one Elisha." And they went to meet him and bowed to the ground before him (Elisha).

Maybe many Christians have looked down on you who are  young and locking experience. God is looking into your heart for worship, you can sing the beautiful snogs which are without anointing, these are only the beautiful musical songs. But the anointing singers bring the songs with healing, love, hope, faith and resting... etc.

I need anointing for my ministries as singing, preaching and teaching. Without Holy Spirit, I can do nothing. But with full of Holy Spirit of Anointing I can do impossible things for God. How about you?

Don't ask for double portions of Holy Spirit unless you want to serve God in worship, praise and preaching. God grants for double portions for God's ministries, for His purpose, not for your own desire or for your own pleasure.

Conclusions

Firstly, we need to follow God wholeheartedly as Caleb, Joshua and David. God will promise us to inherit land (God's promise will fulfill in His will, plan and purpose). Then secondly, we need to encourage our leaders for effective ministries, we need to encourage and stir each others up for the various gifts of Holy Spirit.

Thirdly, God looks into your heart, not your height or ability, God can use ordinate people to do great things for him as Moses (can't talk well), and fourthly anointing comes with power of God as David. Fifthly, may God grant a willing spirit is within joy of our salvation. and sixthly, we always to sing praise and worship for God has done or give thank in our prayer. Finally, let Holy Spirit is in control your life with the double portion of Holy Spirit. My prayer, whatever I sing or teach or preach for God ONLY. God is all in all of my life. Then my God is big and mighty and nothing can compare with him.

The true worshiper is to worship Jesus in Spirit!

Anointing in the Heart of Worship (C)

Read: Psalm 51: 10-12; 14-15
Restore to me the joy of your salvation and great me a willing Spirit to sustain me.
Psalm 51: 12

We will continue to talk principles of  anointing in the heart of  worship as below:

(5)  Grant a willing spirit is within Joy of our salvation.

In Psalm 51; 10-12 said, "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast Spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence, or take you Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and great me a willing Spirit to sustain me." David committed adultery with Bathsheba and killed her husband Uriah. Then Prephet Nathan rebukes David.  and then David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the Lord."  (2 Samuel 12: 13)

David asked God to create in him a pure heart, take his sins and guilt away, then renews a steadfast (never fail) Spirit within him. He prayed to God, not take God's Holy Spirit from him, and he wanted to stay in the presence of God. Because of sins, he begged God to restore him with joy of his salvation and grant (get) him a willing Spirit to sustain me. The true worshiper wants to have a willing (free) Spirit  to help or hold him in this time.

(6)  Sing  Praise for God has done. (V 14-15)

" Save me from blood guilt, O God, the God who saves me, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness. O Lord, open my lips and my mouth will declare your praise."  David asked God to save him from blood guilt, it means to forgive his sins. He has confident in God, God will be done what he has said. (Isaiah 55: 11) So his tongue will sing of  righteous of God, God opened David's lips and his mouth will declare Glory of God for praise.

God has done many things for us, do we sing praise for He has done. And we count our blessing, then we realize that God has done many mighty things in our lives. Praise the Lord!  After joy is surely coming.

A worshiper knows how to praise the Lord for what he has done!

Anointing in the Heart of Worship (B)

Read: 1 Samuel 16: 7, 13; Judges 15: 14, 16: 20-21

The Lord does not look at the things man looks at man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
1 Samuel 16: 7

Today, we continue to talk about the principles in Anointing as below:

(3)  Jesus looks into your heart.

In 1 Samuel 16: 7 said, But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height,  for I have rejected him. The Lord does not looks at man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."

When Samuel saw Eliab  who was Jesse first born son, he thought that he will be right one, the Lord answer that he did not look at appearance as man looks at the outward, but God looks at the heart. And we are unique, because God loves us, he knows our hearts and use us to fulfill his purpose and will.

(4)  Anointing is with Power of God.

1 Samuel 16: 13 said, "So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came upon David in power. " Then chapter 17 David defeated Goliath with God's power.

Judge 15: 14 said, "The Spirit of the Lord came upon him (Samson) in power. The ropes on his arms became like charred flax and the bindings dropped from his hands. But he disobeyed God, then 16: 20-21 said, Then Delilah called, "Samson, the philistines are upon you!" He awoke from his sleep and thought "I'll got out as before and shake myself free." But he did not know that the Lord had left him. God enables us to do his work and ministry. We hope that no one is like Samson example, God's Spirit left him, he lose the power of God.

God looks at your heart, he anoints you with power and ability

Anointing in the Heart of Worship (A)

Read: Numbers 14:24, 27:18, 32: 12;
Deuteronomy 1:38, 11:24

Not one except Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua son of Nun, for they followed the Lord wholeheartedly.
Numbers 32: 12

What is Anointing? Anointing is action of preparation for ministry you have. Like King Saul, David... etc. They had been anointing by Samuel. So that David could kill King Saul from time to time, David said, "he can not lay hands on His anointing one King Saul. 1 Samuel 26: 23 said, "... but I would not lay hand on the Lord's anointing one."

Anointing brings your life to fill with Holy Spirit who will empower you to do His ministry well, it means that you may sing with anointing (full of Holy Spirit) and preaching in His power.

When King David had committed sin in Psalm 51, verse 11 says, "Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me." God granted his prayer. Restore David's joy of his salvation and a willing spirit to sustain him.

The Principles in Anointing:

(1)  Follow God wholeheartedly.

In Numbers 14: 24 said, "but because my servant Caleb has a different Spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land be went to, and his descendants will inherit it." Then 27: 18 said, "So the Lord said to Moses, 'take Joshua Son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit and let your hand on him.

And Numbers 32: 12 said, "Not one except Caleb son of  Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua son of Nun, for they followed the Lord wholeheartedly."  Then Deuteronomy 1: 36 said, "Except Caleb son of Jephunneh. He will see it, and I will give him and his descendants the land he set his feet on, because he followed the Lord wholeheartedly.

Those Scripture Verses repeated the same words:  ...  followed the Lord wholeheartedly about Caleb and Joshua. We are the worshipers who follow God wholeheartedly. It is God who loves us to do it.

(2)  Encouragement brings effective in the ministries.

In Deuteronomy 1: 38 said, "But your assistant Joshua son of Nun will enter it. Encourage him (Joshua), because he will lead Israel to inherit it."

We need to encourage the church leaderships as Pastors and evangelists who have done good. Encourage someone who will receive positive message, so that they can do better in God's ministries.

Results of obedience, in Deuteronomy 11: 24 said, "Every place where you set your foot will be yours." as God has promised.

Follow Jesus wholeheartedly, we are the true worshipers.
