David in his Psalms - Psalm 63 (A)

Read: Psalm 63: 1-5; 2 Samuel 16:2; Psalm 42:1;
John 7: 37-38; Psalm 27: 4; Ecclesiastes 5: 7

Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.
Psalm 63: 3-4

          Yesterday it is public holiday. The banks were close. My car engine came, but I had no money to pay it. Today will be better to pay my bills in Africa. And I also need to go to electricity and water offices to take the bills. I have not yet received, otherwise they cut my water without reason, even you don't get your bills, there will cause problem. God is good, and I got the experience for cutting water, the water man took my water measure off my house. After I had to pay another set up bill. I have learnt by my mistakes. Praise the Lord!

       The life is exacting and challenging every day. I am so grateful for Jesus who helps me daily, so that I can get victory and because He is a excellent God. Today we will look into Psalm 63 which illumines the king's eastward flight, his history was written 2 Samuel 16:2, and said, "The king (David) asked Ziba, "why have you brought these?" Ziba answered, "The donkeys are for the king's household to ride on, the bread and fruit are for the men to eat and the wine is to refresh those who become exhausted in the desert.""  When David and his household in the desert of Judah. The Ziba brought David and his household - donkeys, bread, fruit and wine. God had sent Ziba was a good friend for David, God knew his situation. God sometimes uses other friends as angels for you, when you have the bad situation, there are no way out, but we will get a friend who reaches his arms to save us. May God bless our friends!

        Today, we will look into Psalm 63: 1-5 principles as below:

(1)  Seek God as David got thirsty in the desert. (V 1)

       "O God, you are my God earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you in a dry and weary land where there is no water." As Psalm 42: 1 said, "As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God." David and his household were in the desert, there were no water, David's soul was thirsty and his body longed for God. If David thirsts for water, he can get water as his kingship, but his thirsty is God alone, He will refresh his body, soul and spirit.

         When we read New Testament, Jesus talks about living water, we will not thirsty again. In John 7: 37-38 said, "One the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, steams of living water will flow from within him."" God promises to give us living water, we will not thirst again.

(2)  David honored God in the sanctuary. (V 2)

       "I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory." David have seen God in the sanctuary and look God's power and his glory. As Psalm 27: 4 said, "One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple." (David's wish) David asked of the Lord, he might live in the house of the Lord all the days of his life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. How about us? Do we seek the Lord first or last? Do we really gaze God's beauty? May God give us his strength to seek the Kingdom of God first as Matthew 6:33 said.

(3)  Praise God. (V 3-5)

        "Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you." These verses are so beautiful. Reason to praise God, it is his love is better than life, David will praise God as long as he live, God's name will lift up his hands, his soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods, it means our souls satisfy as we eat the richest of foods.

       Many people in this world, they look for Money, good living and successful life. Where are our souls or spirits? You know that a lot of people commit suicide, they are richer than poor. When you look for materialism, the days will come, you discover that you have nothing, you can conquer in your life, then you feel so empty and meaningless. As king Solomon wrote Ecclesiastes and said, "This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind." Somon wrote everything is meaningless in Ecclesiastes as wisdom, pleasures, folly, toil, oppression, friendlessness, advancement, and rich, which are meaningless. He found out that awe of God is for everything. The answer is "Therefore stand in awe of God." (Ecclesiastes 5: 7)

       Tomorrow, we will go to finish Psalm 63. See you!

Praise Him who is everything for us and seek Him first!
