Read: Psalm 3: 1-4; 2 Samuel 15:16
But you are a shield around me, O Lord; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head. Psalm 3: 5
Yesterday was Sunday, I thought it was Saturday. Then I went out to take my tenth money to God and took some for myself. And I arrived home and all children came to Sunday Service. I did not push them or called their names, but they came to sing, pray, read Saul who met God (Acts 9), act with Saul story and make origami for talking bird. They enjoyed so much. Later they came for English class, I got six students: Sally, Jacklin, Juliana, Seve, Joseph and Patrick. God is good for lighting my day with His grace.
Today we look into Psalm 3 and we will know the history time; when David fled from his Son Absalom. You read 2 Samuel 15: 16 said, "The king (David) set out, with his entire household following him; but he left ten concubines to take care of the palace." David wrote Psalm 3, he was very horrible situation, he fled with his household, he left then concubines to take care of the palace. but his faith was strong, he had confidence in God. After we will know Psalm 3 principles and we practise them. There are the principles as below:
(1) Many of David's foes rose up against him.
(V 1-2)
"O Lord, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! Many are saying of me, "God will not deliver him."" David had faced too many his foes who were saying, "God will not deliver him." And he fled to his own son Absalom. There were no hope for David, in the numbers of his enemies, but there were HOPE for him who trusted in Him totally.
(2) Confidence in God. (V 3)
"But you are a shield around me, O Lord; you bestow glory on me (David) and lift up my head." David knew that he could trust one who was his shield, O his God. He bestowed glory on David and lift up his head, it stood for no fear, but he had confident in God. His confidence in God which made David so strong, no one could knocked him down. We need to trust God and his doing, and we need to pray and instead complaining. When we put our confidence in God, there are HOPE for us. Praise the Lord for that HOPE!
(3) God listened David's crying. (V 4)
"To the Lord I cry aloud, and he answers me from his holy hill." When David cried aloud for prayer, God answered him from his holy hill. I remembered I wanted to look for renting house in Africa, I was sleepless, and I cried our to my Lord, Jesus. I had to move the end of that day. Then I wrote one SMS message to one owner, he answered to me at noon, then we went to a lawyer to make a contract, then I moved out that evening as I hoped. It was God, not me, nor that house owner.
He is still doing a miracle today. Tomorrow, we will finish Psalm 3: 5-8. See you and I will be here to wait for you!
Put your confidence in God who will deliver you or answer you in His time. And you only need to trust Him.
